Friends of Pirbright Surgery Annual report March 2015

Our Patient Participation Group ‘Friends of Pirbright Surgery’ was established in March 2013. Since then every year Pirbright Surgery has to report the achievements and goals that the ‘Friends of Pirbright Surgery’ (PPG) has made. This year we are proud to announce a big leap in goals achieved. In fact they have achieved more than anyone could expect. They have established the ‘Peri Wheels’ service and also have redesigned our surgery leaflet, they also update the leaflet regularly. There is a large amount of work done by the PPG behind the scenes that doesn’t get reported but is essential to the Surgery to ensure that the any news the CCG passes on to all the Participation Groups in North West Surrey gets is filtered down and acted upon.   Through their dedication they are used as an example for other PPG’s to follow. The group do also listen to concerns that other patients might have about the surgery or other health services and will discuss these at their meetings and with surgery staff. Our PPG is affiliated to the National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP). North West Surrey Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has written about our group in two publications, which is a large pat on the back.

The latest full report is also published and we would ask that you take a look and see how well the Patient Participation Group has done!

Introducing  the  ‘Friends of Pirbright Surgery’

Established in March 2013, the ‘Friends of Pirbright Surgery’ is the Patient Participation Group which exists to represent all patients registered with Pirbright Surgery. The Surgery, along with 42 other practices, belongs to the North West Surrey Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) which is responsible for deciding how health services in the area are delivered. Patients are welcome to contact the ’Friends’ and receive details of their activities. The group  -  currently comprising ten members  -  encourages patients to discuss any views or concerns about the practice and other health services in the area and they are invited to make contact via the Surgery in the first instance. The ‘Friends’ are affiliated to the National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP).

It is acknowledged that Pirbright Surgery has been able to offer an exceptional service over the years and in a recent national survey – organised by the National Health Service (NHS) – has been identified as the most accessible surgery in Surrey, with the highest level of patient satisfaction. This does not mean that everything is perfect, but the group seeks to help the Surgery maintain its position and reputation, and meet future challenges with confidence.

The ‘Friends’ are particularly concerned to ensure that the voices of patients are heard when decisions are made regarding local health services and an active dialogue is maintained with the NW Surrey CCG. The Annual Report reviews some of the activities undertaken during the first year and the response to the first Patient Survey, undertaken in March 2014, is particularly encouraging. The preliminary results of the Survey are reported separately. It is anticipated that a similar Survey will be conducted on an annual basis and, meanwhile, the ‘Friends’ will always welcome comments about the health services in the area together with any new ideas and suggestions.
